Seasons!

Today in Science we have began learning about the four seasons.
First we popped back to the twelve months of the year and then we talked about what the weather was like during these times of year. We used the picture above to help us. Snowflakes gave us a clue that Winter is a cold season. Flowers blooming are part of the Spring season. Yellow made us think of sunshine and hot weather which is part of the Summer season. Finally we noticed that leaves changing colour and falling off the trees was part of the Autumn season. Next we went outside to observe a tree in our playground. The children each picked up a leaf that had fallen off a tree and used this to create a picture of what they had seen. Verity said "In Autumn the leaves fall off the trees." Jake said "The leaves aren't always this colour, sometimes they are green." Sofia said "the leaves are green, red and orange!" After that we spoke about what we might wear during the Autumn season. Red Class said we would wear a coat and maybe tights if we were wearing a dress because the weather is getting cooler. We also spoke about how the days get shorter and we start to have less daylight. Red class showed that they have amazing observation skills today. They would make super scientists! Take a look at some of the amazing work that we have produced...
