Brilliant, Buzzy Bees!

 This week we were lucky enough to get a visit from an 'Apiarist' (Bee Keeper). We learnt all about how to look after bees and why they are so important for our World. We asked lots of questions and found out that bees pollinate around a third of our food. We also got to look at the bees honey and even try some. It was delicious! 

Number bonds to 10

This week Purple Class have been 'Exploring Elmer's' while looking at number bonds to 10. We have used a variety of resources to help us including; cubes, Numicon, paper chains, ladybirds, tens frames and part-whole models. Take a look at our fantastic learning!

First week back!

It's great to have everyone enjoying their learning together at school again, we have had lots of fun! For our first full week back after home learning we have been busy learning about weight in Maths. We have been 'Exploring Elmer's' using the balance scales to estimate and test which objects are heavy or light. We have also had the Beebots out in the provision where the children have loved giving and following directions to send them to and around different objects or people in the classroom! 

Jack and the Beanstalk

This week we have been learning the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. We have made our own beanstalk pictures, had fun re-telling the story and made up our own ending to the story. But was there a happy ending? 

Purple Class Nativity 2020!

 I hope you all enjoy our First Christmas Nativity. We're are truly sorry you couldn't come to watch this year but hopefully this will bring you some Christmas cheer! Have a wonderful break, see you all in January.

Hibernating Hedgehogs!

 In Science, we have been learning about how and why some animals hibernate. We conducted a Science experiment to see which hot water bottle would retain the most heat. Can you remember was it the furry hot water bottle or the naked hot water bottle? 

We found out that animals need to keep warm over winter when  hibernating to survive. Next, we decided to make a hedgehog nest in Forest School to keep the hedgehog warm over winter. Can you name some animals that hibernate?

 Well done everybody, you have completed your first half term in Reception at Beighton school! I hope you all have a lovely, well-deserved half term full of spooky fun. I would love to know what you get up to. Fun Fine Motor!

This week Purple Class have been developing their fine motor skills during our continuous provision time. Each day we work in groups taking part in different fine motor activities, then we encourage the children to apply these skills within the provision. This includes; writing, drawing, cutting, sticking, using pipettes and building! Can you spot the robots and the letter 'm'?
