On Monday 5th October, Red Class arrived to school to find a letter from Mummy Monkey, from the story of The Monkey Puzzle by the famous author Julia Donaldson.
Mummy puzzle wanted to tell Red Class that the animals had escaped and had been seen wandering around their school playground over the weekend.
First, we thought carefully about what animals were in the story. Then this led us onto what clues we could look out for in our playground.
Here are the ideas that we came up with...
Monkey -
Butterfly - wings
Parrot - feathers
Spider - web
Elephant - paw prints
Snake - a trail
We could not believe our eyes when we got outside. There were so many clues hidden all over the forest schools area! Those naughty animals had left a real mess!
The pupils acted as detectives and their job was to draw and label any clues that they found and we shared them when we got back to class.
I was really proud of the way they worked together as TEAM WORK TROLLS and they all got a merit!
Take a look at the pictures to see what we found!
