A Day in Sheffield

Last week Blue Class experienced a day in Sheffield.

Firstly, we went to The Crucible Theatre where we watched a show.

Then, we had a go at using drama ourselves to make freeze frames.

After lunch we visited The Winter Gardens.

We explored how many different plants we could find.

Once we were back in the classroom we created detailed sketches of the leaves we had chosen.

To finish off the day we visited Sheffield Cathedral. We admired the stained glass windows and then had a go at making our own!

Can you think of any other places you would like to visit in Sheffield?

Maths!

Over the last week we have been practicing lots of tricky Maths problems which have two steps. For Example:

There are 55 cakes.
20 boys and 19 girls each take a cake.
How many cakes are left?

There are 76 cars in the car park.
18 more cars go into the car park.
Then 35 cars go out.
How many cars are in the car park now?

Can you try these at home?

Learning about money

Our maths learning

The children have really enjoyed learning all about money this week. They have been learning how to recognise different coins, count money and make different amounts by adding coins together.

Challenge! Can you show your grown ups different ways to make 5p?

Easter Bonnet Parade

Our Easter Bonnet Parade

We had such a fun day celebrating Easter by wearing our fantastic Easter Bonnets! Thank you for all the effort you went to and for joining us on our parade. We hope you all had a great Easter.

Food Tasting

Over the past term our Beighton Bees have been working alongside myself, Mrs Wright and our lunch provider Taylor Shaw to develop the lunch menu and help come up with some ways to improve it. They held an assembly to encourage more children to try and have a school lunch rather than a packed lunch.

The Beighton Bees each invited one classmate who might normally have a packed lunch, to come and join in with some food tasting today with Claire and Jo from Taylor Shaw.  The children were all encouraged to try some of the different foods and were asked to rate the food. The children all tried the majority of the food and some were pleasantly surprised with how it tasted.

There will also be a themed event in May which the Beighton Bees have helped to plan and we hope that the majority of our children will all try a school lunch that day. Keep your eyes peeled for further details.
