Our latest learning in Lilac

Hello!

We have had a lovely week in Lilac class. I'm sure the children have filled you in but we are very excited at the arrival of ten caterpillars into our class! We are going to be observing these daily, seeing how they change over time and learning all about the butterfly life cycle.

In English we have been learning about time conjunctions. It was explained to the children that they are often used in instructions so we know what needs to happen first, second etc. We also discussed the importance of following them in the right order. They always appear at the start of sentences. Below the children helped me write how they get ready for school in the morning, including time conjunctions.

In Maths we have been making number bonds to 5 and 10. The children have used Numicon pieces to help them find all the different variations i.e 6 + 4, 3 + 7 etc. Ask your child what a number bond is!

Correct answer - two number which make a total. Number bonds for the number 10 - 2 + 8, 3 + 7, 1 + 9, 4 + 6, 5 + 5
