Our trip to the Emergency Services museum

Hello,

We had a lovely time at the Emergency Services museum in Sheffield this week! There were lots of  fascinating things for us to see. It was great to get involved with the displays and interactions using our senses of smell, sound and touch - not just what we saw! Highlights from the trip included a real fire engine that the children could sit in, pressing buttons to make the horn sound and lights flash! There was a bin that was smoking 'on fire' which drew a lot of curiosity from the children. Also, there was a realistic crash scene with all the associated sights and sounds. It was a great demo of how fire fighters need to be versatile in their job as the models were poised ready to cut people from a vehicle.

The children enjoyed listening to the museum guide talking all about the museum and dressing up in 'people who help us' outfits.

Who's that under the old hand cart?

Ask your child what fun facts they can remember from the museum? What did they enjoy seeing the most? Please comment on our post below, we would love to hear what you all think!
