Happy Easter! Thank you to all the children and their families who took part in our Easter Bonnet Parade. The children looked amazing. Congratulations to our Nursery winners!

Happy Easter!

We had a brilliant time at our Easter Bonnet parade today! Well done Pink Class for all your lovely designs!

Have a lovely holiday everyone and we will see you when you're back at school.

Happy Easter

We have had a lovely last week celebrating Easter. We have read and retold the Easter story, made our own Easter cards and attended our Easter Bonnet Parade.

Have a lovely holiday, keep safe!
See you Monday 16th April ready for our new topic of 'Space'

Sports relief

Lilac class have had a fun day dressing up in their favourite sports wear to raise money for others around the world. The children found out all about Awande's life growing up in Cape Town, South Africa and about other families and communities from different parts of the world. Ask your child what they can remember about Awande's home and what she likes to do? What is the same and what is different about their own lives?

Singing Festival

Did you enjoy our singing at Westfield? We were very tired afterwards but we have loved practising and performing songs from Wind in the Willows.

Sports Relief

We have loved dressing up in our Sporty Clothing today to raise money for Sports Relief. We all enjoyed singing and dancing to the Sports Relief Song.

Throwing and catching skills

In outdoor PE this week we have been working in partners to practise our throwing and catching skills.

Can you practise at home with your adult? Remember to cup your hands ready to catch.

World Book Day

Last Friday Blue Class all dressed up as a character from their favourite book. We shared lots of our stories, wrote book reviews and did a catwalk for the rest of the school to show them our fantastic costumes!

Tyre fun

We have been exploring using the tyres outside today. We rolled some on our own but we needed to be teamwork trolls to roll the really big, heavy tyre.

Dream Catchers

We have been creating our own dream-catchers today.

"I threaded the wool"
"I put feathers on mine"

Food Tasting

We have all enjoyed tasting American food this week.
"Mmm, that was yummy. I really enjoyed that"

"We give hotdogs a big 'thumbs up'!"

Fruit printing

Today Red Class have been using different foods to make prints. They were thinking about repeating patterns.

Can you find the patterns?

Algorithms

Jam sandwich anybody?

Red Class really enjoyed making jam sandwiches this week. They thought about the process and then ordered each step using photographs. They then wrote step by step instructions to help others understand how to make a jam sandwich.

Pete Mckee

Today we have been painting in the style of Pete Mckee.

Can you have a go at this at home?

We have been using very soft brush strokes and taking our time to make sure we paint the detail on our pictures properly.

Open Door

As we will be celebrating Sports Relief tomorrow we learnt all about a little girl called Awande in our open door session this morning so that we could see where the donations will go to. It gave us the experience of finding out about different cultures and we were able to compare all of the similarities and differences between her and us.

Canon Hall Farm

Blue Class loved their trip to Canon Hall Farm! We saw lots of farm animals and found out where our dairy products come from! We even got to have a cuddle with Julia the giant rabbit. There was also a reptile house at the farm and some of us had a stroke of a Bearded Dragon, it was very scaly.

Our trip to the Emergency Services museum

Hello,

We had a lovely time at the Emergency Services museum in Sheffield this week! There were lots of  fascinating things for us to see. It was great to get involved with the displays and interactions using our senses of smell, sound and touch - not just what we saw! Highlights from the trip included a real fire engine that the children could sit in, pressing buttons to make the horn sound and lights flash! There was a bin that was smoking 'on fire' which drew a lot of curiosity from the children. Also, there was a realistic crash scene with all the associated sights and sounds. It was a great demo of how fire fighters need to be versatile in their job as the models were poised ready to cut people from a vehicle.

The children enjoyed listening to the museum guide talking all about the museum and dressing up in 'people who help us' outfits.

Who's that under the old hand cart?

Ask your child what fun facts they can remember from the museum? What did they enjoy seeing the most? Please comment on our post below, we would love to hear what you all think!
