Polar Bear Facts

Did you know that a polar bear is the length of two of us ( 2 x 7 year old children) and weighs the same as 20 of us ( 20x7 year olds)?

We also found out that they have 42 sharp teeth and a blue/black tongue.

A Polar bear's favourite meal is ringed seal but they are very difficult to catch.

Don't worry through polar bears are excellent hunters!

Strange Polar Creature

Over Christmas we have had a strange creature visit our classroom. After lots of investigation we believe it is a polar bear and start to research where it may have come from, what it will eat and how it survives in its habitat. We started our investigation with lots of questions:
How did you travel here?
What do you eat?
Do you walk on all four legs?
Do you like cold or hot weather?
How do you catch your prey?

Superheroes!

What a fantastic start to our new topic 'Superheroes and Villains'.

On the first day back we enjoyed dressing up as our favourite superheroes.

We made superhero dens and traps to catch the villains outside in forest schools.

We also designed and made our own lolly pop stick superheroes.

Who has been in our classroom?

On Monday morning Yellow class had a visitor...
There was snow all over the carpet and some footprints near our reading area igloo. We spent the morning investigating! We measured footprints belonging to different Arctic animals, wrote questions to help us find clues and compared footprints to help us match them to the different animals.

We think it might be a Polar bear!

Do you agree?

We wonder if it will visit us again this week and what else we can learn about Polar bears!
