Measuring

This week in Green Class we have been doing lots of measuring. First we began by measuring objects using non-standard units of measure. The we progressed onto using a ruler and measuring in centimetres. Finally we used our knowledge and skills answer questions and solve problems all about length.

Number bonds to 10

This week Purple Class have been 'Exploring Elmer's' while looking at number bonds to 10. We have used a variety of resources to help us including; cubes, Numicon, paper chains, ladybirds, tens frames and part-whole models. Take a look at our fantastic learning!

Measuring in Maths

This week we have been measuring in maths.

We have been using the vocabulary - shorter and longer for length, shorter and taller for height!

We placed ourselves in height order.

We placed objects in order of their length from shortest to longest.

We used a non standard measurement of cubes to measure classroom objects and today we have been using rulers!

Can anyone remember what we measure in when we use a ruler?

Red Nose Day 2021

We had an excellent day raising money for Comic Relief!

We learnt about where our money goes and how important it is and we really enjoyed dressing up as superheroes and telling our jokes.

Thank you to all parents and carers for helping with the amazing costumes!

Super Maths!

This week in Maths we have been finding fractions of amounts and of shapes. Could you have a go at this at home? Maybe you could show how to cut things into thirds, halves and quarters? What equivalent fractions can you find?

Learning Superstars

I am so proud of how well children in Lilac Class have returned to school. They have all been 'Learning Superstars', demonstrating a 'Have a Go' attitude as well as showing resilience and enthusiasm for their learning. Over the last couple of weeks children have really hit the ground running, they have enjoyed taking part in learning about how to keep healthy, planting vegetables and about the life cycle of a frog.

Well done Lilac Class!

Science

Today we have been Scientists. We have been investigating which materials are waterproof and would keep Farmer Ted dry.

We found that the foil, plastic wallet and bubble wrap were waterproof.

Comic Relief

We have enjoyed our day dressing up in our Superhero costumes and raising money for Comic Relief. We have been creating our own masks in Nursery and have loved sharing a smile by telling jokes.

Comic Relief Superheroes

Orange class had a wonderful day telling jokes for Comic Relief 2021!

A terrrrrrific recount!

Over the past two weeks we have been learning how to write a recount. A recount is when you write about something that has happened.

First we had a tiger tea party and played lots of different games. After our party we thought about what we did and put the activities into order. Then we created a recount plan with pictures. Finally it was time to orally rehearse our recount before writing it.

We had so much fun at the party and I am so impressed with the children's writing. Here are a few examples of children's work for you to see and some pictures of our brilliant party.

We love active learning!

In Red class we love being active, keeping fit and moving our bodies in all different ways!

We especially love 'Wake up Shake up', PE days, being outside and our amazing forest schools area. We also love dancing and workouts by Joe Wicks and on the GoNoodle website too!
