Happy Half Term!

Well done everybody, you have completed your first half term in Reception at Beighton school! I hope you all have a lovely, well-deserved half term full of spooky fun. I would love to know what you get up to. So, feel free to send in any photos of your half term adventures to the purple class email so we can share them when we get back to school.(purpleclass@beighton.sheffield.sch.uk). You could even take me as your flat teacher on your adventures. Here are a few photos of what we got up to in the last week of the half term exploring the Number 7 and discovering the joys of Supertato. Enjoy!

End of Term celebration with a spooky twist!

Today the children of Beighton Nursery Infant School were given the option of coming into school in Halloween fancy dress for the last day of our half term. They look amazing and I was so impressed by your imagination and creativity.

I hope you had a great day Red Class!

See you on the 2nd of November! Miss Crossley and Miss Crump x

Clay Sculptures

This week in Red Class we have been extremely busy and CREATIVE in ART!

On Wednesday we finished our Art Project and used clay to sculpt our animal design. The children used a variety of clay techniques to create their design and I must say they were such focused foxes whilst doing so!

We used our scientific knowledge of body parts and animals to think carefully about what body parts make up our animal and what characteristics they have!

We also used the pattern and line skills we had developed in Art to add texture to our animal sculpture to make them look realistic! Have a look at some of our creations...

Well done!

Myself and Mrs Gage want to say a huge WELL DONE to all of Turquoise Class for their amazing achievements this half term. You are so resilient, kind, hard working and amazing!!! Have a super week off and be safe.

From Miss Cross and Mrs Gage

Music!

In Turquoise class we love Music and have been enjoying learning the harvest songs this half term. We have also been attending a weekly virtual music lesson with Kate. The harvest songs we have been learning are called 'Harvest Samba' and 'It's Harvest time'. Can you perform these at home?

Art Animal Antics

This week in Green class, we have enjoyed getting creative. We took inspiration from our English and Science learning and created some clay sculptures of animals from the story 'Monkey Puzzle'. First we designed our sculptures. Then we made them out of clay. Finally we evaluated our learning by saying what we liked about our sculptures, and how we would improve them next time.

Bedtime Bags

This week we held a short zoom parent workshop about early reading and in particular. For anyone who missed it here is a brief explanation about what we will be doing.

Thanks

Miss Challoner

Amazing Art

In Year 1 we have been focusing on animals in art. We have practiced using a range of lines to create patterns and textures and we have drawn some of the animals from 'Monkey Puzzle'.

Today we created these animals using clay. We learnt how to sculpt, mold, pinch and add texture using tools.

Can you guess which animals we have made?

Harvest Festival

Across school we have been celebrating Harvest Festival.

We have been learning about what Harvest Festival is and why we celebrate it.

We have been singing Harvest songs.

We have even had a visitor!

Miss Crump and her family have been growing lots of different foods at her allotment. We were lucky enough to explore some of the different vegetables that Miss Crump has harvested!

Supertato

Children in Lilac Class have really enjoyed our story 'Supertato' this week. They have made their own Supertato to protect our classroom from the Evil Pea, and they have enjoyed using our small world to retell the story in their own words.
