Super Sharing!

Yesterday Red Class and Yellow Class children came together to share their amazing work. We worked with a partner from a different class, read their work and explained what we liked about it. We wrote our feedback on post- it notes .Everybody loved sharing their work and really enjoyed receiving feedback!

Supertato has landed!

This week, Supertato has landed in Reception with his gang. We have been making traps to capture the Evil Pea and save all the vegetables!

Amazing Art!

In art this week we have been creating some amazing sculptures out of clay. We used some new techniques to shape the clay into some of the animals from the 'Monkey Puzzle' story. After the clay was dry we painted our sculptures. We all really enjoyed creating our own clay masterpieces, and as you can see, they look great! Could you have a go at creating an animal sculpture using different materials at home?

Harvest Time

Today the Nursery children went to the hall in school to look at what had been collected for our Harvest Festival Celebration. The children found out about how we can share our food with those less fortunate than ourselves.

Beighton Bee Rother Valley Conference

On Friday the Beighton Bees had a lot of fun at the Westfield Family of Schools Event at Rother Valley. They worked with other school councils from the local area and took part in a range of team games and activities.  All of the Beighton Bees showed lots of enthusiasm and determination, they were great role models for our school and I was very proud of them all.  Well done Beighton Bees
Miss Challoner

Clay

On Friday we learnt how to use clay properly and we made the animals from our book 'Monkey Puzzle'. We learnt how to stick the different parts of the clay together and how to pinch and shape it so that we were happy with how it looked. Lots of us found it tricky to begin with but we were resilient and took the whole afternoon to try our very best.

Changing Seasons

In Science this week we explored our playground to look for signs of Autumn.

We took clipboards to draw and write down anything that we noticed.

We discussed the length of the day and the types of weather we experience at this time of the year. Then we looked at the trees and the colours of the leaves and made our own autumnal collage.

What is your favourite season?

Super Sculptures

Today in Art we have been sculpting clay into the animals from the Monkey Puzzle story.

We practiced different techniques such as smoothing down the clay and using water and cross hatching to attach the pieces of clay together.

We even used tools to add texture and patterns to the animals.

Can you guess which animals we have made?

Self-belief

In our Sports Assembly we chose someone who has shown self-belief and confidence. We are really proud of this person as they are growing in confidence!

Sports Assembly

On Wednesday we had a special assembly to celebrate our awards in sports. Here we are celebrating!

Food Chains

This week in Science we have been learning all about food chains.

First we focused on the key vocabulary we needed such as consumer, survive and energy.

We then looked at what different animals might eat and worked in teams to create our own food chains.

Can you think of a food chain that you might find in a forest?
