We went into forest schools to create our own musical instruments using the natural materials. We made scrapers, drums, flutes and shakers. We then worked in our groups to create a piece of music. We had to make sure we were listening to each other and also the music.
Can you go into your garden and make a musical instrument?

Pumpkin Science!
This week in Green Class we had some seasonal fun! First we worked as team work trolls to design a face for our pumpkin. We then carved our pumpkins and scooped out all of the seeds that were inside.
We then conducted an experiment which involved mixing together vinegar, washing up liquid and baking powder. First we made predictions of what we thought might happen when we mixed them together. We then put the different ingredients inside the pumpkin. We couldn't believe our eyes when it looked like the pumpkin was being sick! We love Science!
PE
We have had fun exploring space in PE.
We pretended to be Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk.
We pretended to creep around the castle on tiptoes and made different shapes with our bodies.

Happy Half Term
Happy half term!

Stay safe!
We love Science!
We took part in a Science experiment to test the best way to wash flour off our hands. We talked about how the villagers in Eyam washed coins in vinegar.
Would that be a better way to wash our hands?
Would cold water work as well as warm water?
What would happen if we add soap?
What do you think?
We found that vinegar did not clean the flour off, it only made it worse. We found that warm water and soap was the most effective.

Autumn Science Experiment
Yesterday in Blue Class we carved our own pumpkins.
First we cut out the lid, next we scooped out the insides and then we carved a face into the pumpkin.
We then created our own experiment.
We measured out vinegar, washing up liquid and baking powder.
First we poured in the washing up liquid, secondly we added the baking powder and then finally we added the vinegar.
The different ingredients began to mix together and react, this meant it started to bubble.
Before we knew it the pumpkin was being sick!
I wonder if you could try this at home?

Super Science
This week in Science we conducted our own experiment to research the best way to wash our hands. We first had to cover our hands in oil and flour (YUK) and then we had to try and wash it all of using cold water, warm water and soap or vinegar. We tried to wash it off by rubbing them together or just putting our hands in the water.
We found that the best way to wash our hands was to rub them together in warm, soapy water! We have made posters to put up in the toilets to teach all of the other children how to wash their hands really well so that they are squeaky clean.

Christmas Cards
This afternoon we were all Focused Fox's as we were creating our Christmas cards. We were all so focused on our learning and making sure it was the best art we could do!
We can't wait to see them as proper cards!!
Rother Valley School Council Conference
The Beighton Bees had a fantastic day at Rother Valley today along with other school councils from a few other local schools. We played lots of team building games together and then answered questions to collect a set of jigsaw pieces which we all had to work as a team to put back together. Thank you to all of the parents who came with us today. We hope you enjoyed it too.
